Soon to find here: instructions what to do on extended master server outages.
| 2004/10/18 | There was a long master server downtime ( approx. from Saturday the 16th 2:00 GMT to Sunday the 17th 22:00 GMT ) because the server crashed while I was on vacation. The reason of the crash is unknown. I am considering programming the old master server to automatically take over after some hours. Sorry for the inconvenience. | |||||||
| 2004/09/20 | Hardware change: the master server now runs on my old laptop computer to conserve electricity ( for the environment, not because of the costs ). | |||||||
| 2003/7/30 |
The master server was unreachable today from about 2:00 GMT to 16:00 GMT. The reason was
that DynDns.org, the service that I use to map the ever changing IP address to a hostname,
decided to block some connections from my ISP because heavy DOS attacks originated from its
subnet. The block was only partial, so a simple change in the IP updater configuration
could circumvent it. Sorry that it took a little longer to fix than necessary: I did not read the status report of the IP updater ( now I set my mail filter to let it through only if it contains warnings or errors, so if I see a report now, I know it is important ) and I could not fix it remotely from the university because of exactly the same problem: I could not reach my server. |
